ABC Learn, Inc. listen and effectively respond to the needs of their students. They are experts at translating their needs into educational solutions that not only work, but also look great and communicate well. Opportunities are increased each day for the students to improve their reading comprehension and effective communication skills.
The ABC Learn, Inc. tutor resource center provides the following resources:
History Sings - This brings history and culture programs to the public by way of the performing arts.
Lifes Skills Laboratory - This provides classes in social skills along with literacy.
Pathfinders - This project provides young people that are transitioning from the juvenile probation system with mentors/tutors.
Los Angeles Literacy Project - This project provides at-risk youths in detention facilities with literacy skills.
Remember When - This program utilizes music and drama, bringing comfort through nostalgia to senior citizens.
Road to Reading - This program works with children in public schools whereby teachers have targeted individuals as being at risk of failure due to poor reading skills.
Los Angeles Literacy Project
However, due to the unfortunate number of varying factors in the society today, there are a great number of young people who have somehow fallen through the educational cracks and that they are in a situation whereby they cannot read at grade level. Research shows that a majority of these youths end up in correctional facilities. The Los Angeles Literacy Project has teaching programs in place in juvenile camps in order to deliver basic reading skills. This program also incorporates vocabulary building, spelling and enunciation skills.
